Study in Latvia 2025: Opportunities for Uzbek Students

In recent years, Latvia’s higher education system has become an attractive destination not only for Europeans but also for young people from Central Asia. According to 2025 data, around 75,000 students are studying in the country. More than half of them are pursuing a bachelor’s degree, a quarter are enrolled in master’s programs, while the rest continue in doctoral studies and colleges.

The number of educational institutions is also remarkable — across the country there are dozens of universities and colleges offering diverse study programs. Riga, Daugavpils, and Liepaja are among the most popular student hubs.

The flow of international students is steadily increasing. Today, tens of thousands of foreign students are studying in Latvian universities, including a growing number from Uzbekistan. This trend highlights the strengthening of educational ties between the two countries.

Tuition fees are relatively affordable compared to European standards: bachelor’s programs cost a few thousand euros per year, while master’s and doctoral studies are somewhat more expensive. At the same time, both the state and universities provide scholarships and grants for international students.

Living costs are also lower than in many neighboring countries. Student dormitories start from €100 per month, and total monthly expenses usually do not exceed €500. This makes Latvia a safe and budget-friendly option for many young people.
